Formerly known as Ecohabit, DWC Studio specialises in sustainable architecture and energy efficient homes.

Stemming from a desire to create buildings that contribute to our surroundings, through environmentally and socially sustainable measures. We ensure that all of our work is driven by our 3 main values:

Consciousness

Designing with consciousness means taking responsibility for creating the world we live in.

Conscious design comprises both an awareness of the immediate consequences of the design as well as the potential long-term and unintended consequences. It considers the physical, functional, emotional, and environmental impact on the micro and the macro scale.

Collaboration

Design should always be a collaborative process; this collaboration occurs from the initial idea through to the final product. It is the realisation of the shared requirements of community, client, architect and builder that creates buildings that work. The best design is achieved through collaboration and the recognition of the wider interest of everyone impacted by the design.

Context

Context is one of the most critical aspects of design. Architecture should respond to its physical and social context in order to be truly functional.

It is the understanding of cultural nuances, user behaviors, and societal trends, as well as the immediate physical context that inform the function of the building. Designing with context includes utilising construction methods and detailing that responds to and draws on the expertise of local cultures and industries to create architecture that is buildable and beautiful.
